Well we are finally at “Lockup” stage. So brickwork is done, roof is on. Looks like a proper house now, from the outside anyway! The ducted heating system is in, the electrics are all wired through and the plasterer is due to start sometime this week. We were secretly hoping that we would get to this stage before the Christmas break so we’re pleased that we’re here a few weeks before Christmas – splendid!
Pictures as usual.

Just thought I'd add a little update in case I have missed people in my emails with the links to the new photograph albums of the house. Here you can see them all from the start. (Part 3 is the newest ones)

We now have windows in place, the roof trusses went up and now the tiling is pretty much done, only the edging still left there. The bricking has started (although no pictures of that just yet) so it is moving along pretty quickly now! After the paperwork taking so long it's really nice to see them making up some time with the building, although they're going to stop work for a month over Christmas anyway! Aussies!
Well, enjoy the photos, be in touch again soon

After months of paperwork and attending meetings etc we have finally got some movement on our plot of land! They have started building our house! Here is a link to an online photo album showing the progress so far of our new house. It shows the progress so far, from "soil to slab"!

I have tried to give descriptions for each one so that you might know what you are looking at! It's easy for us because we know the layout of the house pretty well but you guys might not have a clue which part is which. If you go to my previous blog entry there's a link to the page on the builder's website which has the floor plan of our house (the "Evolution"). That might help you work out which part of the concrete slab is which part of the house!
There will be more photos to come once the next stage is started, possibly as soon as this weekend.
It's all very exciting to see something new every few days now and it has made it all feel rather real all of a sudden. Until now it felt as if we were just thinking about it but now it does start to become pretty excting to actually see something happening!
Well, by now most people already know that Adam and I have decided to stay in Australia and are in the process of building a new house! We found a great plot of land and have started down the avenue of having a house built.
It is a very exciting time for us and we hope that everyone back in the UK is happy for us and not too sad that we won’t be moving back there. Mum and Dad seem to be dealing fairly well with the news (well done guys!) and I hope that everyone can see the good side in that you all have somewhere free to stay in Australia now!
I will keep you updated with how things are coming along and once we have some movement on site I’ll put regular photos on here to show you how it’s going!
If anyone wants to see the house we’ve chosen here is a link to Burbank (the builder)’s website showing the floor plans etc. http://www.burbankhomes.com.au/homes_detail.php?house_id=88
Anyway, will write more soon, once we have more news.
